Google have added the background and theme functions to Gmail recently, and provides users the personalised information environment. Since continuously, many Gmail users have to download and install the unofficial plug-in application to decorate their email box. Annie Chen, the Gmail developer wrote this on her Blog,


we want to provide not only a simple choice of personal colour and decoration, but a package of 30 types of themes, and users can get the outstanding design of their own background, also people can customise their own design with great range of tools and choices. You can make your email box as a feeling of classical, or a funky background design like raining effect and many more to increase the fun.

But unfortunately, Google’s commercial users won’t enjoy these new features. Google said, the Google Apps users can not use the Gmail’s Background and theme functions. When you want to use the theme function, go to Gmail and select “setting”, then go to the theme page. If you don’t see this page, just wait for few days because Google still is running the test for this feature and it will be released soon.

Recently, Google made lots of effort on Gmail. Last week, Google have added the video catting function, and also the MSN function be added 3 weeks ago, but however been disabled due to the bugs. Since last 2 months, Google have already added 7 new features for Gmail, which includes Gmail Gadgets, Face emotion symbols, Gmail 2.0 Action version, live reply functions, better contact manager, advanced control panel for IMAP and Mail Goggles.
