Self-control and subtle detail
Designers are always looking for ways to breakthrough, and come out with a unique design, and an unprecedented effect. Sometimes self-control can also create an impact. Change in quantity will result in change in quality, and sometimes “too much creativity” does not necessarily bring out good impact.
Soft gradient on Things website
With the websites I have included as examples in my previous articles, I always paid attention to their small gradient technique. Sometimes by accumulating small details like these, it enables me to prepare for my future design. Gradient is one of the most abuse design techniques used, however successful use of gradient will add much beauty to the design. The sense of reality and depth can not be simply achieved by other techniques. Most of the people don’t care much about gradient, but the ways how others have used gradient indeed are my source of inspiration.
Shadow on Icon Dock
Icon Dock website has applied an excellent mixture of different subtle details. Such as pixel highlight, gradient, and shadow. Here we will only focus on shadow. Not very big, and transparency also has increased, very cautiously foil the content block, that makes it become the real focus. Very nice~
